Learner Success Story
Jasreet Klare
Telecommunications Engineer
Prior to starting at DTN Academy:
Jasreet previously worked in his family’s convenience store as a store assistant. However, on the back of family problems, he could no longer work at the store so found himself searching for a new job. He eventually secured employed with Amazon as a Delivery Driver. He really enjoyed this role and interacting with the customers. However, there were also problems with customers complaining that deliveries were not delivered, which consequently meant a reduction in hours. As a result of this, Jasreet did start looking for a new career, working with Universal Credit to help him with his search. DTN Academy’s course was suggested to Jasreet, and with his background in IT, he believed it could be a good fit.
After attending DTN Academy’s Information Day and hearing about the extensive employment opportunities in the Telecommunications Industry, Jasreet was confident this would be the industry for him.
During our Course:
Jasreet thoroughly enjoyed his course at DTN Academy, excelling in every activity that he was asked to do. Jasreet really enjoyed the mix of theory and practical sessions that were offered. He completed his BTEC qualification to a very high standard and completed additional research on the evenings so that he could fully understand each topic that was taught. He thought the teaching was brilliant throughout, especially considering the range of teaching styles that were used by his tutor. He stated the tutor always encouraged learners to ask any question, regardless of how silly they think it may be. Jasreet particularly enjoyed the fibre activities, as the tutor made the environment simulate exactly what they can expect out in the industry.
Upon Completion of our Course and Beyond:
Since completing the course at DTN Academy, Jasreet made sure he was very active on LinkedIn, as he was advised by his tutors that this is one of the best ways of securing employment, especially in the Telecommunications Industry. In the first couple of weeks after completing his course, he accepted a position with Pickr as a Telecommunications Engineer. After about a month, the circumstances around the role, were not suitable for Jasreet, so he did start looking for a new job. Within two weeks, Jasreet received a phone call interview from Kelly Group Communications and was instantly offered employment with them as a Telecommunications Engineer, carrying out residential install work on behalf of CityFibre. Jasreet is fully enjoying his role now and has been very complimentary of the support he has received from his employer.
Furthermore, Jasreet has been headhunted from a company called BorderLink and he is currently undergoing a two-part assessment to determine whether he will be suitable for a Fibre Planner position within their company.
Jasreet’s tutor was very impressed with his progress:
“Jasreet has certainly progressed and developed his skills and knowledge throughout the course and achieved and passed all the units towards the qualification. With the same desire and dedication, I can certainly see him forge a successful career in telecommunications.”

A message from Jasreet:
“A massive thank you to Roy, Geoff, Kevin and Tina, all of whom were very helpful and provided excellent information, advice and guidance. The way the tutor taught me throughout the course was brilliant and he fully supported us throughout our journey, with a wide range of teaching methods used. I received support from everybody, and nothing was too much trouble. There is one thing I want to say to everyone and that is to ‘follow your dreams through and don’t let one hurdle stop you’. DTN Academy do look after you and I really appreciate everything they have done.”
