Who is this Qualification for?

This qualification aims to provide learners with an introduction to retail and is ideal for those interested in working in the retail industry, or those already working in their first role. Learners will develop an understanding of retail, covering topics such as selling, service, team working, health and safety, dealing with theft and product knowledge.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no specified recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification; however, learners might find it helpful if they have already achieved a Level 1 qualification.

How will these qualifications benefit me?

This course will give learners the skills required to work in the retail industry.This could be a shop, supermarket or other similar establishment. You will also undertake a period of work experience as part of this course – this will be arranged with your tutor/assessor.

What will I study on the course?

To be awarded the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Retail Operations, learners are required to successfully complete six mandatory units and at least two optional units.

The two optional units will be decided in agreement with your tutor. To achieve the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Retail Operations, learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the chosen units as detailed in the qualification specification. Grades are not awarded.

How long will it take?

The qualification will be studied over 5 weeks, 2 days a week, however there may be variations in study period depending up on the venue you choose to study.

How will I be assessed?

Each learner is required to create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each unit. Evidence contained in a portfolio could include:
